Would you believe it.... I have started an Art Journal. !!!! I was inspired recently by a page made by my mate SARN, using her Gelatos she got for Christmas. I held onto my old dairy from last year because I thought it might be just the right size for me to start with. It's 7 x 9.5 inches, so not too big to frighten me off. :-)
It has a lovely blue material, slightly padded cover and I wasn't sure what to do, whether to cover it or leave it and just hide the 2015. Maybe I should have done that before starting my first page, but hey-ho !!!
My first page was made on watercolour paper. I've always adored Daffodils and decided to do a piece to celebrate the Wordsworth poem.
I cut shapes for clouds and hills and I used them on the background by chalking around them to make a pale scene.
Then I printed William Wordsworth himself up on the top left, but made him very transparent.
I made a little clipboard with note paper and stamped the Dills onto it using a lovely rubber stamp I got the other day with my Pocket Letter from RONI at INK STAINS. I made a couple of masks so that I could over-stamp them to make a little cluster.
I coloured them with Promarkers, then I wrote out the first verse of the poem onto the note paper.
I decorated the side with die cut Dills :-D
Well - there it is ! I am not sure if it needs a title or something up the top right or some sort of embellishment around the edges, - do my die cut Dills need some leaves ????.... but I guess I could do something with that at another time.
I am still a bit "yaaaaarrrrrggggh" about this journaling mallarky as I tend towards very precise, fiddly work with my art and I want to try and get myself to be a bit freer and wilder so that's why I am going to try this Art Journal. Hmmmm - let's see how long this lasts eh ?!!! LoL
Thank you for dropping by anyway, and I hope you are going to have a lovely crafting weekend:-D
Thanks to SARN for the inspiration. xxxx

Welcome to the world of art journalling. Your page is perfect as it is.
ReplyDeleteI think it's perfect just as it is, Ike, but only you can "feel" if it needs something else at some point. I always think of you as a VERY free and wild crafter, so it's interesting that you don't see yourself that way and want to be more so! Congratulations on taking this step ~ I think you are going to be aces at it!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

I thought about starting an art journal last year but that's as far as I got with it (the thought haha). I love looking at the creative pages people make. This is gorgeous! I wouldn't change a thing. I like the little clipboard with the poem and all of the beautiful daffodils. Looking forward to seeing more of your pages!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job Ike. Love the clipboard. Check out http://www.clips-n-cuts.com/ a fellow Greek lady who does awesome cards and journal pages. You might like her. Still marveling at my pocket letter. I couldn't find a facebook page for you but I posted your letter on my facebook page and a pinterest board. Sharing the awesomeness. thanks as always for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa :-) I will Blog the PL later. I have an IkesArt FB Fan Page page :-D https://www.facebook.com/groups/IkesArtFanPage/
DeleteWahoooooooooo! The girl dun good! With a blog post title like that, I just had to RUSH over and see what you made and I was NOT disappointed. Your page is BRILLIANT Ike and if you could see my happy smiling face at it, you'd be smiling too.
ReplyDeleteI personally find art journalling very freeing and totally different to my card making. Journalling is for YOUR OWN pleasure and doesn't have to please anyone else but YOU - and that's VERY liberating.
The page is fine just as it is . . . but you will probably find that you fiddle with older pages as time goes by! I know I do! Can't wait to see what you do next.
Thanks for the shout out too mate.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
