POE APPRECIATION DAY BLOG HOP January 19-23, 2018 - DAY 1

Hi Peeps and welcome to DAY 1 of the POE APPRECIATION DAY BLOG HOP as hosted by the wonderful Leigh of LEIGH SNAITH-BRUNTON DESIGNS.

I have made 5 new pieces to show you - one each day, but I will also be including some of my previous POE inspired projects to inspire you along :-D

For today, I have a piece using some brand NEW images from LEIGH SNAITH-BRUNTON DESIGNS :  " ODE TO POE "  and " RAVEN " .

                              

Firstly I made a sort of shadow box using  " GOTHIC ARCH " from my Poe collection at IKEsART. The background is a freebie I gave out  a while back which has Ravens.  I coloured POE with Promarkers and then fussy cut him and added him the the background with 3D foamies. The Raven head was also fussy cut and 'feathered' and added to the frame. Then I tarted it up with some white silk leaves and hand made roses.

A LITTLE BIT OF POE

A LITTLE PIECE OF POE

Hello Peeps - nearly the weekend again eh ?!!

I have popped in to show my piece I made for a POE Challenge and also a Challenge to use a Game Piece.

I altered a kiddy puzzle piece by painting it white and then stamping some text on it. I inked the edges and added a stamped POE image (Smeared Ink stamp). My wood crow is from Things To Alter... Jac makes fabulous wooden pieces for your mixed media creations.... find the shop HERE. 

I attached it to a papier mache spooky hand and then I made some fabric roses. I added some plastic mesh and trailing cloth leaves and then attached my roses. The ink well was made from an old kiddy paint pot (like in those old paint by numbers sets !!!) and the quill is made from a chicken feather - kindly donated by one of my chicky 'Girls' :-D

The wooden base was covered with some Crow paper.

QUOTH THE RAVEN - QUEST #48....MATERIAL THINGS

Hi Peeps,
Here I am with my creation this month for our latest Quest over at QUOTH THE RAVEN.Our challenge theme this month is "MATERIAL THINGS", so we want you to create a POE inspired piece which must include some material/fabric.
You can make anything you like as long as it has this and is obviously connected in some way to EDGAR ALLAN POE, since that what our Blog is all about :-D

I have finally finished converting my mobile phone instruction book I have been upcycling for a while now, and this piece covered the last two pages.

Here it is....

FRONT COVER 

I chose to illustrate ELEONORA by Edgar Allan POE and have used one of my images from IKEsART...'THOUGHTS' and my skellie hand.

I used a piece of multi colour canvas for the backing of both pages.
I added my image - I left her in monotone hues.

Then I cut a strip of brown satin and sewed down the middle whilst pleating it. I also made roses from the same fabric.

I finished off with a quote from the story...  " She had seen that the finger of Death was upon her bosom -  that, like the ephemeron *, she had been made perfect in loveliness only to die".

QUOTH THE RAVEN QUEST #43 - TIC, TAC, POE WEEK 3

Hello and happy Thursday,
I am popping in to show you my inspiration creation for WEEK 3 of our current Challenge over at QUOTH THE RAVEN. Our Theme this time is TIC. TAC. POE and here is our grid...

I have used the Right section vertical... Raven, POE, Lace for my creation.

I made a background with papers from Smeared Ink's 'Zombie Killa' digital paper set and used a die cut left-over as a stencil through which I smeared home-made textured past. I smurged over it when dry with a black ink pad.

I used my Quoth The Raven rubber stamp set - also from Smeared Ink to do the images and sentiment flag. The lace and corrugated card were from my 'bits' box.

And so... 'tis done :-D

Here I am with my piece for our new Challenge over at QUOTH THE RAVEN.This one is #43 and our Theme is.... "TIC, TAC, POE", and here is the grid.

QUOTH THE RAVEN CHALLENGE #36...TIC,TAC,POE

Good morning Peeps,

I am posting here my creation for the new challenge over at QUOTH THE RAVEN, which this time is #36  TIC, TAC, POE.
Here is the grid;

I went for the Centre Horizontal line and made one of my altered ciggy boxes.

I used my Quoth The Raven rubber stamp set from SMEARED INK and my raven was printed 7 times and fussy cut, then layered with silicone to make him 3D. I've got The Master himself - Edgar Allan POE - looking resplendent on the inside.

QUOTH THE RAVEN CHALLENGE

Sorry I am a bit late with posting my creation for Quest #30 over at QUOTH THE RAVEN... which is TIC, TAC, POE.
We have a super Grid over on the QTR Blog to inspire you and you know how this works don't you ?... any row of 3 up, down or across :-)
I decided to make a tag this time, but it's a big one.... 10" tall :-D

I used a die cut corner for the top piece with is from Tonic, and I added Stickles and tiny seed beads to the butterflies. Then I put all sorts of lace, ribbons,flowers from my stash. The main image is called  POE SKULL BUST and he is on my Freebie Raven backing paper. Both items are available in my store at IKE'sART.

I sewed the main image on and left the centre part free and made another tag that slides inside this portion. On it I printed 'Nevermore' using my rubber stamp from the Quoth The Raven Set by Smeared Ink.

Congrats also to our Winner from QTR Quest #29  .. 'KEREN' , and our Top 3..  'Paper Whims', 'Crafting Vicky' and 'Calling All Crafters'. Thank you to everyone who played along with us and we hope you will all come over and play again at TIC, TAC, POE and maybe bring along a few friends with you :-)

QUOTH THE RAVEN QUEST 24 - TIC,TAC,POE

Hello Peeps - it's that time again for our next QUEST over at QUOTH THE RAVEN - our Challenge site inspired by Edgar Allan POE and his works. :-) 
Now I know he was a little bit on the kooky crazy side, but he wrote some wonderful stuff.... if you fancy a little taster then go HERE. Some tales are a little macabre but he also has gorgeous poems and we use his works to create pieces over at our QTR site. It's not all dark and gory - because his work is so varied we can do floral/pretty pretty too  so please don't be afraid to come over and have a look and say Hi :-) We are almost at our 100 Followers goal too, so there will be some Candy on offer when we get there :-D

So now, onto my piece for this Quest... I have made for you a Mini Book Charm.
This little beastie is only 2" x 2.5" and was made following a Tutorial over at Gauche Alchemy.
I used some card from a cereal box and the paper inside the book is my "Poe Paper Freebie", which is available free in my SHOP. The DP I used for the pages is 'Absolution Deferred' by Crafty Chaos (Shop no longer operating). I made a little Cameo of The Master and used Glossy Accents on the top to look like glass.  I inked all the edges with black ink and then added a Tim Holtz keyring hangy thingy :-) Some lace and a bit of sparkly thread to close and Voila !!!

The only thing that bugged me was that I didn't have any of those little proper 'eyelet' thingies so I had to use a different thing with little spikies on it. It works OK from outside but inside it doesn't have a rim so don't look so good. :-(  Maybe I will have to invest in some eyelets !!! hee hee

QUEST 23 AT QUOTH THE RAVEN

Good Morning and Happy Monday Peeps,

Here we are with Quest 23 over at QUOTH THE RAVEN  and this time we have for you TIC, TAC, POE.
Here is your grid.

In case you don't know how this works, you pick and 3 squares, diagonal, across or up and down and use those things within your project.

I went Diagonally from top right...... PLEATS/RAVEN.STITCHING  and I have used my own digi "Raven Poe" available in my SHOP.

I pleated and sewed the material and then made some matching roses. The very back piece is a piece of kitchen paper I cleaned my embossing folder with after I had inked and embossed with it. It looked pretty cool. :-) I then added a couple of die cuts, a skully pin, some fibres and a feather :-D

Here is my entry as part of QUOTH THE RAVEN DT for the Design Team Throwdown #7 over at SMEARED & SMUDGED. This Post is a bit picture heavy but you'll see why............

All the images are from my new rubber stamp set by Smeared Ink - Quoth The Raven :-)

This is a chuncky ATC - the basic measurements are standard - 2.5" x 3.5" but the depth of these babies is 1.5".  I have split mine into three 1/2" sections and then rejoined them, so it gives me more surfaces to work on. 

I made a little quill pen from part of a feather and sort of Washi tape by stamping on some pale masking tape. The roses are from my stash. All edges distressed with black ink. Papers are from 3 Hearts Designs at the Digital Scrap Cafe.

Our TOP 3 this week too were - tOri,  Mark and Corrine. Such stunning entries and so many of them this time, it was extremely difficult for us to choose !! Our Followers are gradually increasing too, so we are very pleased to be finding all you POE lovers out there and we thank you for coming over to play :-D

So, now onto Quest 18.... Here is your Tic, Tac, POE board..

Choose any 3 boxes in a line and use them to make your creation but don't forget it MUST be related to Edgar Allan POE in such shape/form/connection :-) That's the whole point of our Challenge site eh ??!!

For my creation this month I am converting a little booklet I got with my phone. It started life looking like this;

I shall be decorating it a bit at a time and have completed the front page. I used the CENTRE line DOWN on our grid......... Ribbon/Raven/Flowers. I have background paper from Crafty Chaos, a Raven from SMEARED INK's Quoth The Raven set and across the front I sewed some lace with roses onto a piece of acetate. The Raven was printed 3 times and fussy cut, layered up with silicone to make him 3D.

QUOTH THE RAVEN - POE, POE, POE MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello Peeps,
Welcome to QUEST 16 over at  QUOTH THE RAVEN which this month is called "POE ! POE! POE! MERRY CHRISTMAS".
Firstly - Congratulations to our Winner for Quest 15 - CARLA who made an awesome tag for our Tic Tac Poe Challenge, and to our Top 3... Pauline, Vee and Monique :-) Well done everyone and thank you for joining us.

Now this time we are on a Christmas Theme, but it must have some connection to Edgar Allan POE and must be on the darker/Gothic side.
The Prize this Challenge is a brand new digi I made which is not even in my Shop yet. She is 'Scheherazade' and was drawn to illustrate Poe's story - The 1002 nd Tale of Scheherazade. You can read the story HERE and here's a preview of her.... (click on Pics to enlarge)

For my project this month I have used 'Old Man' from my Tell Tale Heart digis (Poe) and the Xmas tree from the 'Gothic Christmas' set from SMEARED INK. I added some lights and made it glow :-)

QUEST 13 AT QUOTH THE RAVEN

Hello Poe Peeps and welcome to Quest 13 over at QUOTH THE RAVEN.
Our Quest this time is inspired by the story 'Some Words With A Mummy' - Poe's dig at the obsession that the Victorians had for Egyptology and stuff. Really very funny !! It was quite a change for him to write thusly :-)
Here's a little quotette :-D ........... .

"Come to me, by all means, my dear good friend, as soon as you receive this. Come and help us to rejoice. At last, by long persevering diplomacy, I have gained the assent of the Directors of the City Museum, to my examination of the Mummy --- you know the one I mean. I have permission to unswathe it and open it, if desirable. A few friends only will be present -- you, of course. The Mummy is now at my house, and we shall begin to unroll it at eleven tonight".

We also have exciting news for you - the very talented SHELL has accepted our invitation to join our DT at Quoth The Raven and she has done the most amazing first project for us. You just have to go over and see :-D It's awesome and creppy/funny at both the same time :-D LoL

Now, this week I had a silly stupid idea put to me by my other half, as I was a bit stressed and short of time and my Mojo was definitely NOT playing the game for this Quest. I laughed when he suggested it and had pictures flashing in my mind straight away, so came down to draw. This is what I ended up with :-D

Also lurking in there is a wonderful little digi Mummy that I bought yesterday from the amazing SPYDER. She's got some fine digis - pop over and see - and she also does freebies on her Blog. 
I used a border and picture of Poe from the Web. I also found a Heiroglyph alphabet but I wouldn't be too sure on it being accurate !! LoL  Any guesses as to what it says ???? 
Whoever gets it first will receive a little Prize from me :-)  Just drop me a quick email. x

QUOTH THE RAVEN - QUEST 3 - ANNABEL LEE

Hello Peeps,
Today over at QUOTH THE RAVEN we have Quest 3 - Annabel Lee. The quest is to make a creation - anything you like - which has reference to Annabel Lee - as in the poem by Edgar Allen POE.
Here is my creation using a new digi I drew especially for this occasion. She is available in my Shop.

I printed her out 4 times and decoupaged her to make her 3D and also added some gauzy stuff in there for a hint of a dress. :-D
My background is a sepulchre pikkie from Lippincotts Magazine 1877, birds and Poe portrait from But I Digress and words from Poe's poem of Annabel Lee.
