WOYWW 214 + MESSIN' AROUND

Happy Wednesday Peeps,

Happy WOYWW 214. If you are wondering what this is all about, then pop over to Julia at STAMPING GROUND and see what we all do every Wednesday... we're basically  nosey :-D Hee hee

I am just messin' around today - did the Greek class this morning and I blew their minds trying to teach them the Accusative case !!!  I think my poor little pupils were totally shell shocked by the time our hour was up LoL

Here is a nosey at my Big Shot station on the other side of my room :-)....

Click on Pic to enlarge

Now, I treated myself recently to a couple of the new 3D M-Bossability folders from Spellbinders and you say I played with one on some green mirri card.. on the left there :-)

The bit I cut off it I used as a backing for a little creation I have made for the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge #155 - which is sponsored this week by A Day For Daisies and the Theme is to use the Spotlight Technique. That means that you chose an area of your stamp/digi and colour it in and leave the rest in black and white. The 'spotlit' bit seems to be then cut out and set on top of the original image.
I have never tried this so here is my attempt....

I cut out a 1" circle from the little mermaid and coloured it with Copics, then I mounted it onto a bit of green card and stuck it back on with a 3D foamie.
The image was mounted onto the matching green card after edging with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I cut some little leafy thingies that look a bit like seaweed and I added some Stickles to it for shine.
I sanded the mirri card to make the embossed shells show out a bit more.

Products used:

Image:  'Birthday Mermaid' by A Day For Daisies
Green Mirri Card
Dark green card.
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Peeled Paint
Sizzix leaf die
X Cut 1" Circle Punch
Stickles - Crystal Ice

Challenges I am entering:

Tuesday Throwdown #155 - Spotlight It
Twisted Tuesday 2TC54 - Something beginning with I... Ink + Embossing Folder
Glitter & Sparkle #40 - Fantasy/Fairytale

  1. Fantastic, not tried the #spot light' thingy yet! (I wanted to say tec-neek, but I can't spell it!)
A bigshot station is a good idea, mine often gets put on the floor when I need it's space to use the cutter and I always hit my ankles on the handle! Have a great crafty week!

As you are in Greece do you know of Cosy Goose shoes? Am trying to track down some sandals like the worn out ones I am using. Would be grateful of any leads. Hope you don't mind my asking.

  7. That’s not a technique that I’ve seen before Ike, but it’s very effective and your Green embossed background was just perfect for the image you chose.

  12. Hello Ike !

Your card is realy lovely - like your embossing station! It wasn't my intent to make anybody feel old with the Mungo Jerry video, on the contrary it was ment to make people feel good - I bought it on 45 too so I am "old" too. Get up and have a dance and you will never feel old! :-)

  20. Love your seaside themed card, and particularly what you've done with the green mirror card - beautiful! I've only ever used gold and silver. The green has embossed really well, hasn't it.

Greek? You should try Hebrew... what fun we had in the class, trying to get our heads around a totally different form of grammar from western languages... the verb forms are a nightmare! Part of the problem today is that proper grammar isn't taught any more, even English, and people have no idea what you are talking about when you say "accusative" or "dative" or whatever!!

Thank you for your lovely and fun comment - yes, it's great that they got to the bottom of my problem lol! Not only is it not cancer, but there's the prospect of better health as a result of having this test.

So glad you like my new room. I'm so excited about it, I hardly know what to do with myself!

    Happy WOYWW,

  36. My Cuttlebug lives on the top of my shelf and I have to lift it down each time, there's gonna be an accident one of these days! Maybe I should try and create a station for it like you have with your bigshot. Glad we don't have the accusative case in the English language, it's hard enough as it is! Have a great weekend.
