HAPPY KITTY

My next piece for the day is celebrating my favourite colour AND my love of cats and flowers :-)
I know it's still raining and there isn't any sunshine, but I can always live in hope.
I was sitting listening to 'HAPPY' by Pharrell Williams - which just makes me smile and jig along and I started making this little piece. It was going to be a page in my art journal but after adding the flower I realized that it won't shut if I put it in there hahaha.  I am going to use it as the front of a Mini Album I think :-)
I recently saw this great Tutorial on how to make paper Dahlias so I had a go. Mine is not as gorgeous as the photos I saw but for a first try it's not too bad.
I think I made it more difficult by making it considerable smaller than shown on the TuT.   :-)

I started with a plain yellow backing and stitched a bit of plastic mesh onto it. The kitty was stamped and then I coloured his eyes with Spectrum Noir markers. I dripped some green ink for leaves and attached my Dahlia. The wording was done using a font called ' Austie Bost Kitten Klub ' - free from Fonts101.

FLYING THINGS

Hello Peeps,

I am back in today with another piece I made for Challenges.

I tried playing around with that masking tape and ink pads technique that I played with the other day. This time I remembered to put the tape in both directions. I inked it up using 3 different shades of red.
Then I removed the tape and used my Rubbadubbadoo stamps set called "A Bank Whereon". I stamped the poem several times and then stamped the bird on the right.
The main image is a rubber stamp from De_Stempelwinkel but I don't know what she is called as it was given to me by a friend. I coloured her with Spectrum Noir pens and then cut her out. I added some Stickles on her wings but it doesn't show much on the picture.

I folded the card to make a small Z fold on the right. I used my Big Shot to cut some ferny leaves and then used the negative part to stamp through onto the card with green ink. I stuck the ferns on and added some flowers that I bought the other day from my local haberdashers :-)

The Poem is by William Shakespear from A Midsummer Night's Dream :

I know a bank whereon the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and nodding violet grows
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania some time of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight......"

Thanks for dropping in - I'm off out with the dog now :-D  xxxxx

A BIT WILD, WET & WINDY

Hello Peeps,
Well - the weather has really turned today - wet, windy and grey.
I decided to make a little scene of what it was like at the beach this morning !!!

I used DE-STEMPELWINKEL - "At The Beach Plate #32" for this piece. I decided to try the sea stamp upside down for my clouds at the top - it didn't come out so bad :-) I tried to disguise the straight line by adding to it in pencil to show what our sky looks like when we are going to have a Tornado or a Water Spout. It gets very black in a totally straight line across the sky and then you can actually see the spouts forming in the cloud line and then dropping down to the sea - like the one I drew in the middle of the scene.
The whole thing is lightly coloured with Prismacolour pencils.

I used the seascape up the right way at the bottom and added a couple of other islands on the horizon. You can only see these here on days when it is going to rain.... it's weird that they suddenly appear.. a bit like Brigadoon !!! :-)

There weren't many birds flying - just a couple - and some just taking shelter on the beach and the wind was really bending the palms !!
Glad to be indoors on a day like this :-)

Keep warm Chums :-)
