I am definitely in artsy mode today and my first one I would like to show is my MM journal page I started yesterday.
I had read recently someone talking about doing a resist technique with clear embossing and then ironing it off after to create a sort of Batik effect. Well - I tried having a go at that but it didn't quite come out right :-(
My background was stamped with clear embossing and then I went over it with a variety of red colours by Whisper inks.
I also used my SARNTANGLES to stamp directly onto the page.
All the images are De-Stempelwinkel and are NBUS. I also stamped some onto card and cut them out.
I think the inks I used on the bubble wrap printing layer were the wrong type cuz they didn't come off the embossing and just covered it up :-(
I dunno - maybe I'll have another go and just use the water based inks - does anyone know ???
I shall definitely be back later. Thanks for popping in and your lovely comments xxxxx
Challenges I am entering:
Wonderful page and great combination of colors and stamps. I like it much.

This is so beautiful! Great page Ike! I can imagine that acrylic based inks aren't useful for this technique - better to use watercolor inks - but I haven't treid out the embossing powders and ironing effect yet.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for joining Art Journal Journey!
Great to see you again!

this is s wonderful page! Love the stamps too. I have done the batik look but it's been a long time and I'd have to see if I still have my notes on it. As for the inks on the embossing I imagine if you used a permanent or solvent based ink you wouldn't be able to wipe it away. Thanks for joining in at AJJ!
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful page!
ReplyDeleteI made also before few days page and I close it before I let it dry.
not smart :D

Hello from AJJ
ReplyDeleteYour lovely page is full of interest and romance.
You make me want to try the batik embossing technique again.
It has been so many years now I forget how it goes exactly.
I think there are no mistakes and your page turned out great.
Wahoo . . . wonderful to see your Sarntangles in use and thanks for linking to the ideas page too. Mwah mwah.
ReplyDeleteOnce you've embossed, any water-based inks used over the top should just wipe off with a light buffing motion, archival definitely won't come off, but pigment inks should if you wipe them off quickly after stamping them.
Hope that helps.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Thank you Sarn :-D That's definitely where I went wrong with those inks !! :-D xxx
