QUOTH THE RAVEN.... QUEST 7

Hello Peeps and welcome to Quest 7 over at QUOTH THE RAVEN but firstly, Congratulations go to our Winner of Quest 6.... Jane with her fantastic 3D scene :-D and also our Top 3 ....   Jacki, Yvonne and Susan.
Now this time, we are asking you to go pretty -  I guess -  with a tribute to one of POE's poems named.. TO HELEN. 'Tis but a short piece.....

Helen, thy beauty is to me
Like those Nicean barks of yore,
That gently, o'er a perfumed sea,
The weary, wayworn wanderer bore
To his own native shore

On desperate seas long wont to roam,
Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
Thy Naiad airs have brought me home
To the glory that was Greece,
To the gandeur that was Rome.

Lo! in yon brilliant window niche,
How statue-like I see thee stand,
The agate lamp within thy hand!
Ah, Psyche, from the regions which
Are Holy Land !
Well, would you believe... I decided to go all pretty, pretty this week and here is what I came up with....

Papers are from Crafty Chaos, copy of the poem found on the Web, as was the lovely picture.   Poe wrote this poem in honour of Jane Stith Stanard, the mother of his childhood friend, Rob. Although Poe never explained why he changed Jane Stanard's name to Helen in the poem, one possible interpretation is that he intended to connect her to the famed Helen of Troy -   hence that was the feel I went with for my creation.
Fabric and embellies from my stash.
I hope you will pop over and leave my Fellows some love and please join us for this Quest with a bit of beauty :-D

  1. I love this poem, and your creation is perfect! Love the angel wings. I think your idea on why Poe changed her name to Helen is well supported in the words of the poem. I love this blog!
